10 February 2019 | Guinness Six Nations
England continued their amazing start to the Six Nations as they humiliated France 44-8 at Twickenham with the help of a Jonny May hat-trick.
In an extraordinary match up between two rugby greats, it was England who steam rolled to victory. Winger, Jonny May, scored a hattrick of tries in the first 30 minutes of the game and that seemed to flatter France. England added two more in the second half, one through the relentless Owen Farrell and the other a penalty try after Chris Ashton had been brought down without the ball.
France had no answer to England’s physicality and quality with only one try being scored by Damian Penaud. The back three of France were turned inside out and that summed up their whole performance. France’s terrible run at Twickenham continues as does their record against England. Les Bleus have now lost 10 of their last 13 Six Nations matches against England.
After the game the man of the match, May, spoke to Radio 5 live saying. Scoring tries is enjoyable and it's special at Twickenham to score for your country…I really am just getting on the back of excellent work from everybody else, and what I'm doing is just as important as what everyone else is doing and it's just a cog in the wheel."
What’s next?
England next face Wales in Cardiff in two weeks' time knowing that a victory would hand them a monumental chance at a Grand Slam in 2019.
