Cori Williams scored a hattrick as Cardiff City Ladies ran out 4-0 winners over Hounslow Women.

The first half lacked many chances, but the home side were certainly the team on top with many attacks coming down the right-hand flank with the dangerous Amber Roberts.

The first real chance of the game came ten minutes before the half time whistle. Williams did excellently to lay the ball off to Ellie Sargent, who then cut inside and fired towards goal, but her effort was easily claimed by Sophia Garrido in the Hounslow net.

Minutes afterwards, the deadlock was finally broken, after persistent pressure from the home side. A lovely cross from the right-hand side found its way onto the head of Williams who directed the ball into an unguarded net.

In the second half, the pattern of play resumed as Cardiff took control and looked to extend their lead while Hounslow offered very little going the other way.

It did not take long for the home side to double their advantage as Williams once again found the back of the net. A lovely pass from Ruby Scahill allowed Williams to go through one on one and calmly slot the ball past the goalkeeper.

Right before the hour mark, Cardiff made three as Williams completed her hattrick. Scahill was brought down in the box leaving the referee no choice but to award a penalty to Cardiff, in which Williams stepped up and coolly sent Garrido the wrong way.

Williams capped off a tremendous performance by providing the assist for her sides fourth goal. Sargent easily tapped home for Cardiff as they secured the victory and vital three points.

What's next?

Cardiff’s next fixture is a tough test against league leaders Southampton, before they return home to face Oxford United on October 17.
