A resilient 9-man Tottenham were heartbroken right at the end as Bournemouth claimed the 3 points denying them the chance to cement their place in the top 4.
Tottenham slipped to a third defeat in a row against Bournemouth, having battled with 9 men for most the match. The north London club started the game well and could have been 2 or 3 goals up if it weren’t for poor finishing by Moura, Son and Dele. Their frustrations in front of goal got the better of them and later resulted in Son Heung-min getting a red card right before half time. Spurs made 2 changes in the second half and this proved to be costly as substitute Juan Foyth, who had only been on the pitch for 120 seconds, was also shown the red card after going high in on a challenge. 9-man Tottenham battled well against a sluggish Bournemouth side however were heartbroken right at the end when Nathan Ake headed home the winner from a corner.

After the game Pochettino spoke to the press. “Two red cards, very difficult for the team - we fight, we made the effort, only disappointed and we need to move on. I respect the decision of the referee. We are third, we are competing for the top four, we are in the semi-final of the Champions League - I think if you go back to our first game of the season in the Premier League, everybody would sign to be in the position that we are in.
Bournemouth manager, Eddie Howe spoke on how proud he was with his side achieving Premier League survival and also touched on their goals for next season. "I think survival is a huge achievement. At the end of the season our biggest challenge is always to keep our best players. We've been able to do that to this point, I think this will be our biggest summer in terms of doing that. I am confident that we can and it's really important that we do."
What’s next?
Tottenham’s disappointing run of results has come at a bad time with their next fixture being against Ajax in the Champions League, where they have to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat. Meanwhile, Bournemouth's final game of the season is away at Crystal Palace.
