My name is Lee Clow, I am a 2nd year Sports Journalism Student at the University of South Wales and I am an aspiring sports journalist.
The future of my life is really important to me as I want to find success in my chosen field. I have a plan on how I am going to achieve this, however this is in a constant state of flux as things change during my life especially as I grow older and wiser.
The ultimate goal of mine to become a successful sports journalist who can afford a nice comfortable life. This has been an ultimate goal of mine for a number of years now and I am determined to make it happen. A realistic goal for me would be to be working for a mainstream organisation such as the BBC or ITV. An unrealistic goal, but not out the question, would to work for Sky Sports, specially the football side of the company.
I feel I am on the right track in becoming what I want to be, however there is still much more to learn and discover before I reach that stage. The reason I feel on track with my career is because I am at university studying ‘sports journalism’ which is a subject which will propel me into the industry once I graduate. As well as my course, I feel my work rate and mentality is what is keeping me on track as well as standing me out amongst the rest. One of my personal goals which I follow day in day out, is to be the best in everything I do, and I believe this mentality has helped me not only during course, but throughout my life. I feel I have managed to step out from the shadows and cast out a very bright light.
Along with my mentality and attitude, I feel have the skills for whatever it takes. I am creative, hardworking, flexible, a good listener, experienced using different software, I work well with others, have excellent time management, and so much more. These skills have made me stand out and the more I use them, as well as develop new ones, will help me progress further and hopefully achieve my ultimate goal.
As with every single person on this planet, I have weaknesses, but I feel I am someone who deals with them really well. I am my own harshest critique and will not accept anything less than 100%. My hunger to always get better is what makes me successful and I will continue to do this even if I reach the peak of my career.
Overall, I am determined to fill my dream of becoming a successful sports journalist. I will except nothing less as I have worked the hardest I could have just to reach the position I am in now. As I continue on my course and my life, my personal goals will change but my ultimate goal will remain the same and my skills, mentality and attitude will be key for me getting there. Even if I come up against problems, I lean back on my past experiences and use them to help me overcome them. 100% is the minimum I will give towards my pursuit as I will constantly be doing extra work off my own back in the seek of reward. My future has just started and I can’t wait to get going.
