Best sporting achievement – It would have to be when I scored a few goals at my old club. The joy of scoring was so special and doing with my mates made it even better.

Why your sport? – It’s one of the main sports I’ve done since I was younger with me and my brother, we both loved it, playing hockey allowed me to travel around to play against other teams and it meant I made friends at the clubs I played for and we could travel around a lot for it.

Who inspired you to get into sport and why? – My parents introduced it to me when I was 7, they’ve taken me to all my training sessions and matches since then and drove me to different clubs I joined like Stourport, Worcester and finally Colwall and Malvern hockey club. Playing hockey makes me feel so happy as it keeps me fit and its something to help take my mind of schoolwork for a few hours a week. Playing hockey also relieves me of stress and makes me feel relaxed afterwards.

Outside of the sport you play, who are your heroes and why? – It would probably be my family as they drove me around to all these events just to run around for a few hours. They have taught me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it and have also pushed me into doing these different sports. Playing sports has taught me that I’m stronger than I think which has helped me push through when life starts to get hard, so I am hugely grateful towards my family.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? – “Just keep going”

This phrase has helped me push through when things get hard and I always have that in the back of my mind when I’m doing something I find challenging even if it’s a long journey I’ll eventually get there.

What do you love most about playing sport? – It lets me take a breather from any schoolwork or life stresses and it helps with my mental and physical health. Playing sport also gives me a break to work on myself as a person and helps me build my self-confidence.

What would you play if you couldn’t play your sport?- I’d probably do mountain biking as it’s the other sport I regularly do and I used to race for a while when I was younger.

What impact has playing at USW had on you? Playing at USW has generally improved my all-round skills in the sport. I have learnt that you need to play as a team rather than playing on your own. This has helped with my education as it has taught me some life lessons for when I need to work with people and how I can handle different types of people. I’d recommend playing a sport at USW as you don’t have to be the best player, but you can take something away with you for later on in life. Finally playing sport at USW also allows you to meet different types of people and develop great friendships.
