Son Heung-min scored a wonderful solo goal as Spurs blew away Chelsea with a 3-1 at Wembley, ending Maurizio Sarri’s 18-game unbeaten.
Spurs struck early against the Blues when a fantastic cross from Christian Eriksen was met by Dele Alli (8). Only 8 minutes later, Tottenham struck again through their talisman, Harry Kane, whose long-range effort wrong footed Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Chelsea will argue that they were denied a penalty prior to the Tottenham’s' second goal when Eden Hazard was pushed over by defender Juan Foyth inside the area. After the break, Son-Heung-min ran half the length of the pitch, beating Jorginho for pace and easing past David Luiz in the process, before calmly slotting it in the back of the net for Tottenham’s third goal (54). Chelsea scored a consolation five minutes before time when substitute Olivier Giroud nodded in Cesar Azpilicueta's cross. This massive win for Spurs takes them above Chelsea into third and five points behind Premier League Leaders Manchester City.
After the game Mauricio Pochettino spoke about his Tottenham side what they are capable of. "The staff are so happy managing this group of players. We need to be humble and recognise that, playing like this, we can do big things.” Pochettino continued "Our challenge is to keep going and be consistent."
Maurizio Sarri on the other hand was far from impressed with his side’s display at Wembley today. Sarri said: "I am disappointed because we played very badly. I think we played very badly in all directions - physically, mentally, technically and tactically.” "Today I did not like anybody." It was until today that Chelsea lost their unbeaten run streak and Sarri tasted his first league defeat in England under the hands of rivals Tottenham. Since Maurizio Sarri replaced Antonio Conte in the summer as manager, Chelsea remained unbeaten in the league with 8 wins from the opening 12 league matches.
